I Know It's Only Rock & Roll but I Like It!
I sit here, listening to my Live Rolling Stones cd (which I just bought this past weekend) and I think about Mick Jagger. I was thinking of writing something about this after seeing him & the band perform at the Superbowl Halftime Show, but that went by the wayside. Here's a band that's been around since 1961 - that's 45 years! They're still performing, they put out a new album last year, they've been deemed the "Greatest Rock & Roll Band in History."
This caused me to go & read up on the band (thanks to the Wonderful World of Wikipedia!) and it's an interesting story. Like pretty much all other bands from that era, they've gone through their share of drug problems, but still have not split up. Yes, they've had some band member changes, but the two main ones (Mick Jagger & Keith Richards) are still there. It hasn't been easy, and it looks like there have been several times that the band may not make it, but they are still around!
Mick Jagger amazes me though. They've been around for 45 years, and he still moves with so much energy, and is so in shape for someone his age! I would think that all the travelling & drugs would take a bigger toll on the band, but no - they still rock like they're young! In 2002, Q Magazine named them as one of the "50 Bands to See Before you Die." I'm now a little bitter that I didn't go to the SARS benefit show when they were in Toronto a few years ago, or look into their tour last year...that would have been a KICKASS show! Maybe next time, when I can afford it :P
I'll say that Mick Jagger's not an overly good looking man, and he is older than my father, but somehow that energy, and the shape he's in, (laugh as you will!) makes me somewhat attracted to him, in a similar way that I'm attracted to David Bowie :P However, I will definitely try my darndest to get to one of their concerts before they call it quits!

someone just burned me a copy of the complete works of the Rolling Stones, I can't wait to listen to it now.
It's cool that you want Mick Jagger. I have a thing for Tom Petty because of his carefree attitude towards life. Before that, it used to be Rod Stewart, but he's just wayyy to old now. :D

Enjoy the Stones Lou! I don't know every song by them, so if there are any super-fantastic ones, feel free to recommend :) I've also always loved Tom Petty! And have also developed a recent love for Eric Clapton!
Sarah! I did not know that...next time, we'll have to go ;)
Love ya both!
