Late Saturday night (or early Sunday morning?) ramblings...
G'evening/morning/afternoon, whichever you wish!
Today ended up not being too bad a day, considering I was worried about being bored, since I decided to actually stay in Sarnia this weekend (and Ally wasn't here) I was a little bummed this morning, b/c everyone else seemed to have much more exciting weekend plans than I did, and I was also going to be alone all day. And for those of you that know me, I hate sitting around doing nothing on a weekend! So I was a little depressed over not going anywhere/doing anything/having people. This depressed-ness came post-hockey, pre-doing anything (oh, I was also depressed b/c the stupid Canadian men lost to the Swiss...THE SWISS OF ALL PEOPLE!! who aren't exactly well-known for their stellar hockey skills...although the goalie played well, and Canada got screwed by the overhead cameras not being in the right place, but whatever...that has nothing to do with this post!)
So, I decided to get off my sorry ass, and wandered to downtown Sarnia. Spent some time in a few places there - mainly "Cheeky Monkey" which is a really cool music store - all sorts of CDs & vinyls. Practically anything you want, and apparently, if they don't have what you want, no matter how rare it is, they will get it for you! Which is awesome! I spent awhile looking around in there, since I'd never actually been in there. Bought a live Rolling Stones album, and a magazine. Then I wandered around a few other stores, and decided it was cold, so went into the coffee shop down there. It was a very cool place - reminded me of the Sleepless Goat in Kingston, where there were a lot of very interesting people. It's one of those very open places, where they have the homosexual rainbow on the door, etc. All sorts of people in there, although I wished I would have known some of them, b/c they seemed interesting (and I'm not good at just going and meeting random people in coffee shops!) So I sat, and drank my mocha, and read my magazine. It was nice & relaxing. Then I wandered up the street a bit more, then decided to walk back to my car along the waterfront. That was fuckin cold!! I was ready to leave when I got to my car, so I decided to drive to the mall (what else was I going to do?) That was alright - lots of people, didn't really buy anything. Was going to go to the gym afterwards, but decided I was hungry, so went home for a quick snack, then to the gym, which wasn't busy at all, so that was nice! Did that, went home, made dinner.
Dinner brought on another adventure. I had bought a frozen pizza, and so I turned on the oven to heat it up. Yesterday, Rob had made cheesecake, and noticed when he took them out that there was some liquid on the bottom of the oven...no idea where it came from! But I cooked chicken a bit later in the oven last night, and no problems. However, today, when I'm heating up the oven, I had left the kitchen for a bit, then when I came back, I smelled something, and there was a small fire in the oven - this liquid was on fire! I was stunned...I turned the oven off, then I think I stood there for like 30 seconds, wondering what the hell I do. It wasn't a big fire or anything, and I was sure I could take care of it, but I was like "what if the house burns down??" And of course, I was home alone (and have been all day!) So I go into the cupboard to grab something to fill with water to throw into the oven, when the fire suddenly dies. It was smokey, and smelly, but not burning. So I turned the fan on, and decided to cook my pizza in the toaster oven, since I didn't trust turning on this oven! I also went & checked the oven every 5 minutes or so, just to make sure nothing caught on fire again! But seems to be fine. Note to self: inform Rob & Katie of this tomorrow :P
Then tonight, I watched "MIllion Dollar Baby" & other tv afterwards. Plus I had my laptop on downstairs, and I bought a cross-stitch set today, so I was working on that. Which leads me to now - 4:30am!! It definitely doesn't feel like that time, but it definitely is. I'm starting to get tired though. Amazing how I can stay up so much later on weekends, seeing as I didn't really sleep in today. That's the other shitty thing though - on weekends, I can't seem to sleep past 9:30am, so I worry about tomorrow (er, today?) that I'm going to wake up too damn early. B/c last night, I went to bed around 3am, and woke around 9:30, and was wide awake! Oh well. We'll see what happens. But yea, today wasn't as bad as it could have been. Hopefully tomorrow won't be either. I'll likely try to go to the gym again, plus the Canadians are playing Finland in the afternoon. As well, I need to clean my bathroom & bedroom sometime! And as usual, I have guitar, and books, and now a cross-stitch! So should be an ok day...plus hopefully I'll sleep a bit longer. Anyway, I'm going to dry my hair (as I took a shower right before this!) so g'nite all (or g'morning, g'evening, g'whenever you read this ;))
**EDIT: I realize after the fact that I am an idiot, for it was likely a grease fire in the oven. Had I put water on it, that wouldn't have been good, for grease+water=bad. Thank goodness it went out on its own, before my panicky self put water on it!
