Men don't like makeup as much...

I think that a little bit of make-up can help...but too much make-up is, well, too much. Makes some people look fake & not as pretty as they would be without.

Couple articles...

Two articles I found interesting...

First one, was just strange: http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/jul/26/amputee_happy_be/?city_local (courtesy of baconandehs.blogspot.com)

Second one, I found interesting & sad:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4720457.stm
I'm not judging anyone here, but what bothers me about this is that Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world (if not, the poorest), so I would expect that they would have laws saying the max number of children that a man can father. B/c honestly, 77 children does not help the country's economy when you can't afford to feed/educate them! Any comment?

Fishfest last weekend...Sunday story

This one's not as exciting :S

Kat came over around 10am, then we headed to the Legion for brunch. $6 got us a plate of scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausages, hashbrowns, & toast, as well as fruit, juice & coffee. The food was actually very good – unlike other times that you could get cheap eggs, etc. I was talking to the woman beside me, and telling her that I was living in Port Dover for the summer – so she asked what I was doing, etc. I told her it was a good summer, where I got home from work at 4pm, and hit the beach. To which she said she was surprised I didn’t have a better tan. WTF? This is probably the best tan I’ve ever had – I’m usually pasty white! But the food was tasty!

Afterwards, we chilled at my place for a bit, then Kat left as she was heading back to Mississauga for the day. I was tired, but I wanted to see the cardboard races, so I decided to check them out, then was thinking of coming back for a nap. Cardboard boat races: exactly what it sounds like. People making large boats out of boxes & they had to race them (ie they were in the boats & paddling) It was pretty amusing…there were some that disintegrated as soon as they hit the water, and there were some that lasted quite a long time. After the races were over, the boats that were still standing – the owners fought each other with those water noodles to destroy the rest of the boats. Was pretty amusing :)

After the races, I wandered down the beach, then went to the bank & home for a bit. Grabbed a blanket & book & swimsuit & snack food & juice & went to the beach – sat outside of the fenced area to read & listen to the music. “Colour Quest” was playing – they were Caribbean sounding…not bad, but not my favourite band from the weekend. Stuck around for awhile – watched some of the “Port Dover Survivor,” then Colour Quest finished their set, so I went home again for about 45 minutes. On my walk back, a car suddenly stops & a guy calls to me. At first I actually thought it was Neil from Friday night, but then he re-introduced himself (b/c he also couldn’t remember my name) and it was Ivan – the creepy guy from the beach last week! LOL…of course, I realize who he is *after* I’m in the car. Nothing happened though – he wanted to go for either a ride or walk – I would have been cool with a walk & hanging with him at the stage. But no parking spot, so I was only in the car less than 5 minutes. He dropped me off, and told me that if I wanted, I should come visit them on the boat that night. I said we’ll see – I was pretty tired  Went back to the stage for “Patio Dave and the Lanterns.” They weren’t bad – kind of a bluesy/jazzy sound. Did a bluesy version of “Can’t buy me Love” by the Beatles which I thought was cool-sounding. I was just chilling for the music, eating sunflower seeds – there was this 3 year old boy who asked me a couple times what I was eating. He wanted some, but his mom wouldn’t let him (I would have given him some if his mom was ok with it, but I don’t know if a 3 year old should be eating them!) So the kid kept wanting to eat my shells that I dropped on the sand. It was cute.

Then there were the closing ceremonies, where the mayor of PD announced that next year, there might be a different face of FishFest, b/c it’s getting hard to get people to organize it. Which is too bad, b/c it was a good time. If I lived in Dover all the time, and wasn’t in school, I would volunteer to help organize. On my way out, I ran into Neil, who was working the beer stand again. Chatted to him for a bit – didn’t feel as bad about Friday night. He was working till 7pm, and gave me his number if I wanted to do something that night or anytime. Which I might use sometime. I said I’d call him sometime. Then I went home & chilled the rest of the night – it was a good weekend, but I was fun.

Back to Ivan though – when Drew & Ashlee were here the other night, we were playing Frisbee & he was there again. So he asked to join our game, which was fine. When we all got out, he came to where we were sitting, and asked where we lived & he would bring a bottle of booze over later. I simply said that “we didn’t know what we were up to, and we may not want to hang out – if we did want to do something, we’d come find his boat.” I think he got the picture, and left. Lucas said later that he gives him respect for not staying around at that point, but he had a problem with him asking where we lived (he did that the first time we met him within 2 minutes!)

B/c of Ivan, Neil & Troy, Ashlee joked to me the other day, saying “Jill, for someone who doesn’t sleep around, you sure are popular around Port Dover, getting to know a lot of people!” I wouldn’t say *popular*, but it was funny :D

Fishfest last weekend...Saturday story

This one's pretty long...but interesting. Some strange events that day :P

Saturday morning, I wanted to get up to see the results of the children’s sand sculpture contest at 10am, but no did do. I woke up at 6:30 to go to the bathroom, and Kat woke up too & left to go home to shower/change, etc, although she ended up going back to sleep. I had a bit of a headache, but wasn’t too bad. Dozed till about 8:30am, when my stomach didn’t feel great. After a bunch of diarrhea & puking up orange juice, I felt better (sorry for that TMI)

Kat came over eventually, and she & I left around 12:30pm, b/c we wanted to see stuff at 1pm, but we went to see if Neil was working at the theatre (as he volunteers there and said he was in that day…we also felt bad about the night before) But no such luck. So we headed to the pier to see the Tote Races followed by the Tug-Pull Challenge (the latter was apparently the Thing To See!) The Tote Races were cool, where a pair of people were put into a large plastic tub, and they raced to paddle themselves out around a buoy & back. It was funny – especially the last one, which was one couple against another couple (the girls in each couple were sisters) They went after each other, to try to knock the others out of the boat. All 4 people ended up in the water, then ended up swimming & pulling their tub to the finish line. I think it ended up in a tie. Unfortunately the Tug-Pull Challenge was cancelled :S

We went over to the Molson Beach Tent (& bar, but no alky for us at that time!) where we saw a little bit of “Jake” who was a children’s entertainer. It was alright…but definitely a kids show! We decided we were getting hungry, so we hit to the Fish Fry, put on by a local fish place - $5 for a HUGE plate of fish & chips. Twas tasty! I had wanted fish, seeing as it WAS FishFest! The lady who served us recognized us from us sampling the wine the night before, so we chatted to her for a bit. It’s funny how people recognize you more quickly in a small town. We took our food over to the Molson Beach Tent A band “Summerfield” was playing – they did a lot of covers of artists such as REM, Tom Petty, Melissa Etheridge, and others. They did a different version of REM’s “Losing my Religion” which I personally thought was cool, but Kat didn’t like it. Oh well. I enjoyed them – their usual lead singer was a guy, but the only girl in the band sang a few songs, and I thought she had an awesome voice. I really enjoyed their set, especially since I could sing along to most of the songs, but Kat wasn’t as thrilled. Meh.

In the middle of the set, they had the Molson “Bathing Brutes & Beauties” Contest. There was a females category, a males category & a partners category. Highlights were in the partners competition, they had to blow up those long balloons & make an animal, but nobody could blow them up, so they made the animals out of the deflated balloons. One couple made a “snail with balls” – but they were told it was a family show, so it was a “well endowed snail.” Then they had to do something creative with the balloons, and bonus points if they did it as partners. Other competitions in this contest (each category group did 3) were dancing, talent, and others. One interesting one was where they had to go out in the audience and grab as much clothing as they could from people, and wear it. The best part of that one was the one man in the partners category who wore a skirt & blouse! The girls also had one where they had to walk around with a cup of water balanced on their head. The end of each category had a hula hoop competition. Overall, the entire competition was pretty amusing! Summerfield took the stage again.

Giselle (the one selling naked postcards from the day before) had been around again, and was wearing a bikini top & short shorts which were not zipped up, but you didn’t see anything. However, at one point, she took her shorts off, and was wearing just a g-string (and her top), and she was dancing with a 60-year-old man in a Speedo thong. *shudders* It was pretty bad. I whispered to Kat that since they had said it a couple times during the Brutes & Beauties contest that someone should tell those two that it’s a family show! I wasn’t offended by seeing them or anything, but I’m sure some people might have been.

After Summerfield was done, we decided to head back to my place to chill, and we watched some tv, then ended up both napping for an hour. Which was good…neither of us slept much the night before, and we were both tired. I think that made the night more enjoyable. We got up then, went to Tim Horton’s for a quick bite to eat, and went back to the stage. Kat wasn’t drinking that night, and to avoid the expensive drinks there, I took a bottle of Peach Schnapps & Mango Cocktail with me. I love small towns – they didn’t check our bags at all! Hehe. There was a guy on stage with his acoustic guitar – name was Richard something. He was pretty cool – Kat loved him, b/c he did Dashboard Confessional, and he was Emo. He sounded good, but I didn’t know any of the songs he did.

After Richard, it started to rain. And pour. For about 30-45 minutes. It almost looked like it might be cancelled – but the sound guys did a good job with covering up everything, and making the show go on eventually. But during the rain, we were all under the covering. And this is where you really notice that ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE in this town smokes. That’s what I get for living in the middle of tobacco country (where there’s still not a no-smoking by-law like most of Ontario) Ick.

Once the rain cleared, the “Joys” (formerly Pop Joy) took the stage for the remainder of the evening. We were in the first couple rows for it. They fuckin rocked! A small Indie group from London Ontario, with the lead singer being a female, they were totally awesome. She was crazy, and it was just a fun fun show! They did some of their own music, and did a bunch of covers of Nirvana, Green Day, Offspring, and so many other bands that I can’t remember. The drummer was pretty damn cool too.

During the show, the lead singer (Sarah) was complaining about being worried about 2 things. One was her bra, how she thought it was ok in the dressing room, but now she’s worried about her tits falling out b/c she doesn’t have any! Her other problem was that the stage was all full of sand & water, so she was worried about falling on her ass. She asks “if I fall on my ass with my tits hanging out, will you guys help?” And the crowd screams in agreement, and she says “alright, then I’ll go FUCKIN CRAZY then!” And she did! :D

Another part of the show, Sarah asks if there’s any girls in the audience who want to flash the audience. So 3 girls go up on stage, and flash for 5 seconds. The one girl who went up looked about 16 – it was a 19+ show, but they didn’t check anyone at the door (well, I’m sure that if there was some 12-year-old they woulda kicked them out, but no one else)

During the show, there was apparently some guy who kept trying to touch Kat – I’m not sure where, but she definitely likes her personal space. We headed to the drink counter later (since Kat knew the one woman selling tickets earlier, and gave us free water coupons) and this guy followed or something, and randomly says to Kat “You want to go for a beer?” I didn’t see this, but then Kat yells to me “Hey Jill, you want to go for a beer?” and I say “I’m always good for beer!” Which I think was the wrong answer, but oh well. But he had a beer, so we talked to him there for a bit. I thought Kat knew him since he asked us for beer, but no, I figured she didn’t when she finally introduced herself to him. His name’s Troy, he just finished his CS & electronics degree at Laurier, and now wants to go for his B.Ed. Oh man, he was a stereotypical CS guy though – not too many social skills. He was there with his dad, who at first he didn’t where he was, but he didn’t care much. Then his dad walked by, and shook Troy’s hand saying “See ya later son.” Kat joked later that his Dad’s going to be all questioning, like “So you were talking to girls eh? Who were they? Did you get their numbers?” LOL

So Troy finished his beer, then we headed to the Norfolk Tavern. On the way, Troy asks Kat “So, are you two going to be able to get in?” Grr. He also thought we were 18! There was a line at the Norfolk, and Kat was talking to the guys behind us a bit, who were apparently pretty fun. When we got there, only 2 of us could get in (they were *that* strict about keeping their capacity) So Kat pushed us in, and talked to the guys behind her. They apparently asked her if she had a fake ID. Geez Loueez! What’s with these people thinking we’re so young? Kat came in eventually, and Troy bought me a beer & Kat an iced tea. I felt bad though – Kat couldn’t hear my convo with Troy, but I didn’t want to ignore him since he bought me beer. She basically rocked out to the music then. Troy went to the bathroom at one point, and leaned to talk to us, and just started rubbing my back while doing so. Weird, but I don’t have the personal space bubble as much as Kat, so didn’t really bother me. Whatever. I can deal. When he got back, we went closer to the band for awhile, then they took a break, and we were tired (and done our beer!) so we headed home. Troy went the opposite way to us, so we said good-bye. And that was the end of that. Got home, Kat drove back to her place, and I took a shower (super-gross from sweat & sand!) and went to bed. Fun fun night!

Fishfest last weekend...Friday story

So a lot of ppl know that I went to Fishfest in Port Dover last weekend, but you don't know the whole story, so here it is, if you want to know (long I know, but kinda amusing!) I've split it into each day, just b/c they are a bit long...

Friday – Kat came over around 5:30pm, and we barbecued dinner (and had a few pre-drinkies!) Then we headed down towards the beach. We wandered a bit and saw a couple booths set up, and watched some of the carnival rides.

Then headed towards the Molson Beach Bar. Missed the opening ceremonies (and the kids’ karaoke contest at 5pm :P) but I don’t think that they were that exciting. “The Bayou Boys” took the stage…they were alright. We drank quite a few that night, and chatted to other random people a lot, so I really don’t remember them that much. But they were good background music, and good to dance to.

Obviously Molson was the alcohol providers, but they didn’t even have Canadian as the beer of choice…oh no, it was something worse (yes, there are worse beers than Canadian) – Coors Light :S For $4 for a cup. So Kat & I drank coolers – they were Vex Cranberry Lemonade…they tasted good, but they were $5 each!!! Ouch!!! But we decided to drink a lot…Kat wasn’t going to, since she was planning on driving back to her place from mine, but then she decided she would walk back (which still didn’t happen…she crashed at my place) So we drank about 4-5 coolers each, then I was tipsy enough to drink a couple Coors. Yuck. I wasn’t drunk, but I was definitely pretty tipsy that night! It was fun! :D

In the middle of the Bayou Boys performance, they had a fireworks display off the pier. For a small town (since fireworks are expensive), they were pretty good.

At some point during the performance, this guy Neil came over and started talking to us. He had been volunteering at the wine bar (where we got a free sample, and had talked to him a bit there) but then was off duty. He was a nice guy – not really my type, b/c he had tattoos & smoked, but I could be friends with him. He’s also 31, so a little old :P But we hung out with him the rest of the night. He was also walking the same direction as my place, so at that time, Kat was thinking still of walking back to her place, so he was saying he could walk me home. But due to Kat’s paranoia of random people knowing where she (or I, in this case) live, she didn’t really want him to know where I lived. So at the end of the performance, when he still had almost a full cup of beer, we suddenly decided to leave. I just said to him “she’s crashing at my place, so we’re going to head” He said “Who am I going to talk to then?” I said “You could go make other friends” He said “I don’t want to” We basically shrugged and said bye and left. We walked pretty quickly, but he finished his beer (I assume) and caught up to us, asking why we were running. We said we weren’t, but he totally caught onto us :S

At one point during the evening, we were talking to Neil about beer, and he commented that he didn’t like Guinness, which both Kat & I are fans of. And Kat says “But Guinness…it’s so fun!” Neil burst out laughing & I chuckled…neither of us had ever heard Guinness (or any other beer) described as “fun” But Kat says that b/c it’s so thick & foamy that it’s fun. LOL. I heart Kat :D But now that I think about it, the way it’s poured (if done properly), the fact that you see it all foamy then becoming darker, I guess is pretty fun!

So there was also this other woman at the performance (actually she was around there the entire weekend) – I can’t remember her name, but it was something like Giselle…so from now on, I’m going to call her Giselle. Anyway, Giselle’s about 35-40, and a fairly attractive woman. Darker skinned, curly long hair, nice body. According to Neil, she’s a very nice woman. But a whore. She was selling postcards of herself TOPLESS in a variety of places (ie on the beach, near the lighthouse, and other sites) She sells them for $10 each, and it looked like she made a good $200-300 on Friday night alone. She also sold them Saturday & Sunday. Interesting… Neil's comment when we saw her was "There's Giselle, whoring herself out again!"

We were chilling at the picnic table during the Bayou Boys, chatting away, when a lady who was dancing near us comes over and whispers to Kat & I "I'm sorry for this personal question, but do either of you have a tampon?" I always have some in my purse, so I handed one over, and she hands me a $5 bill. FIVE! LOL...that tampon was in a 40-pack which cost me $7 altogether. I woulda given it to her for free, but whatever. She was very appreciative. She goes to the washroom, then comes back, and says "That made everything good" and I said "All is well?" and she says "Yup...not quite as comfortable as Playtex, but it does the job" ... it was Tampax, which is a cardboard applicator - not as easy, but flushable/biodegradable, unlike plastic applicators. I found the whole thing pretty amusing...I've never been paid $5 for a tampon before! LOL

There were also these other girls that joined our picnic table, that we talked to a bit. The one asked us how old we are – we asked how old she thought we were. She said about 18. We said that I was 21 & Kat was 22. Her jaw basically dropped. Le sigh. I know we look young, but it’s annoying. She & her friends were 19. Yea…they definitely looked older than us.

There was a guy with these girls that was wandering around, wearing a Hawaiian shirt & bandana around his long strangly blonde hair, carrying a skateboard. Totally a Jay lookalike from Jay & Silent Bob! LOL That was about all the excitement for that night – that I can remember right now.

It was a fun night…we were pretty tipsy upon getting home. We hung out a bit to drink water, then fell asleep. Actually Kat called her boyfriend Paul, and then we went to bed.

HP & HBP

I haven’t even read it yet, but I keep almost reading spoilers *hyperventilates* From what I keep hearing, it’s really really good, but sad. Oh geez. I didn’t cry at the end of book 5, so hopefully I won’t here. I hope it’s better than book 5 though – I must say, I didn’t particularly think that one was overly great. It was good – but a little slow, and the ending was dumb – ooh, Harry has to kill Voldemort, or Voldemort has to kill Harry. Big surprise! I personally liked the 4th one best – more action! :D

Going home this weekend, so I can get my HP6, since it was delivered there. But I have to finish Deception Point first – I still have about 200 pages left, which would normally take me 2 weeks (I don’t spend all my time reading :P) And I have company tonight. Gah! Must read the next couple nights A LOT! Or just wait longer to start HBP. I can’t believe people can actually read that whole thing in 6 hours – or even in a single sitting! I can’t read for much more than an hour at a time, if even that. No matter how good the book!

Ramble ramble...

Hope everyone had a good weekend...mine was fantastic, and I'll update about it when I go somewhere that allows me to write a long entry here (not at work :S)

Found this to be interesting - a blog from someone who was actually on the London train that was bombed: http://www.thetriforce.com/newblog/?p=244 Pretty scary shit.

My new HP6 showed up at my place in Waterloo this past weekend, but I wasn't there. I'll get it this weekend. Read a couple reviews - apparently the ending is very sad, and some critic said they "haven't cried this much since the ending of Charlotte's Web" which means a major character does indeed die :S A lot of people think Dumbledore, but I'm thinking it could also be Ron or Hermoine.

I've gotta read my other book to finish it by the weekend though, so I can read HBP. We'll see if that happens though.

Back to work I go...owie, my shoulders are burned :( Talk to y'all later!

TGIF!!

Woo...just over 2 hours till the weekend! Yeehaa! Should be a good one - actually staying in town for FISHFEST!! It'll be fun - live music, fireworks, all sorts of competitions, line dancing on the pier, beer tent on teh beach, and of course, fish! It's apparently pretty big! Yay for having my camera back as well, so I can take lots of piccies!! :D

Other news...I got an email today that my Amazon order has been shipped...the order containing the new Harry Potter, which will show at home tomorrow! Although I don't know when I'll be home to get it...oh well, I'll read it eventually! I'm halfway through Deception Point right now.

Well, if anyone reads this, have a good weekend!

Looks...

So, I'm at the library now, but before this, I was at home watching Oprah. It was about plastic surgery. The part that really struck me was this one girl, who's 28 years old, and has had 26 plastic surgeries. 26!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy fuckin hell!

She's had her lips made bigger 5 times, 4 nose jobs, 3 facelifts, eyebrows lifted, and work on her stomach, breasts, thighs, and others. She looked so fake - her lips were huge & unattractive. And she still wants more. She does not feel comfortable with how she looks.

Her sister was on as well - she's 18, and very pretty. Now I don't doubt the one who is 26 wasn't pretty to begin with, but I didn't find her overly attractive now.

They had other people on as well who have had plastic surgery, and they're addicted to it. They don't think they look good yet. So they keep going through with it. It's like the same psychological problem as anorexics. But it's sad. People do not think they look good as they are, so they go through with stuff like surgery or anorexia, but they never like how they look.

I think this is a problem given to a lot of people, mainly females, by the media. They see all the celebrities on tv or in movies who are super-skinny & pretty & popular with men. And they think that's what they want to be...what they need to be. It's horrible. B/c most of these people are naturally pretty, but they don't think so. So they ruin themselves. And I feel sorry for them :S

Oh yea...

As you can see, I haven't updated much b/c at work, I don't seem to be allowed to post anything big. So I'll probably just start to write a lot of littler entries when at work - so I might post a couple times a day, but they'll be short! :P

Starting to have had enough

So I usually don't complain about heat/humidity, b/c it normally doesn't bother me too much. Humidity does, but in Port Dover where I'm living, it hasn't been too bad, b/c of a breeze off the lake all the time. Yesterday was the first time I really noticed any humidity when I was walking down to the beach after work. I couldn't imagine living in TO right now though...it's apparently pretty gross. But I'm starting to have had enough...WE NEED RAIN!! Things are looking gross, and brown. According to the news yesterday, it's been a month since rain has fallen - that's pretty long! Plus it might cool things down - I like the heat, and the sun, but right now, I would appreciate a day of good rain (preferably not on the weekend though!) It's calling for some this weekend...so we'll see what happens >.<

Bleh

So I've discovered that at work, I don't seem to be allowed to blog anything longer than a few lines, and since I don't have internet at home, I won't be blogging as often as I like :S But I'll do it when I can - library, when I'm in Waterloo, etc. But I can email - so if you want to talk, email me!! :D

Thursday, July 07, 2005

Oh happy day!

Let's see if Blogger lets me post this one...

Dad emailed...my camera is back! MY CAMERA IS BACK! *happy dance* :D

Ignore this...

So at work, Blogger doesnt' seem to like letting me post...I'll write out what I have to say, but then it goes to "This page cannot be found" and deletes everything. Don't know if it's a firewall at work, or Blogspot being retarded...so this is a test :P

Karla Holmolka

Yesterday, Canada's most renowned female prisoner was released from a jail in Quebec. Karla Homolka served a 12 year sentence in the sex murders of Kristen French & Leslie Mohaffy (sp?) It was only 12 years in exchange for her testimony against her partner-in-crime Paul Bernardo (who's serving a life sentence)

Details of the murder & such can be found here: http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/
notorious/bernardo/index_1.html?sect=5

It's long...you can skim the 30 chapters though. But interesting. You might have to copy & paste the second line of it.

Homolka's release has been all over the news here for the past month or so. B/c she wanted no media to follow her. Obviously. However, how she's changed and all that jazz has been on too. And where she might live. B/c the people of St Catharine's didn't want her there either, since that's where the crimes occurred.

There was news of the media talking to one of her fellow inmates, who said that Homolka hadn't felt any remorse for what she'd done - she always just lived in her own little fantasy world. I personally don't think she should have gotten only 12 years, but obviously, it was a deal to lock up Bernardo for life.

So, her lawyers were in court all yesterday while she was being released, in order to get the media to stay away. And when she's released, where does she go first? Not to see her mother, but to a french tv station, to give an interview!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?? Is she stupid? (well, obviously, based on the crimes) But still...I don't get it! I don't think anyone does.

So what's going to happen? She has changed her name (to what, no one knows) No idea where she'll live. Obviously she's not telling that. She says that she wants to get a respectable job, and become a citizen. Whatever.

My prediction? Give her a year - either she'll re-offend, or someone will find out where she is & go after her. Can't blame them much.

One thing did strike me with the above website, and that's a letter from Karla to her family. Karla also helped Paul Bernardo kill her sister, Tammy. So this is the letter she wrote about this:

------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mom, Dad and Lori,

This is the hardest letter I've ever had to write and you'll probably all hate me once you read it. I've kept this inside myself for so long and I just can't lie to you any more. Both Paul and I are responsible for Tammy's death. Paul was "in love" with her and wanted to have sex with her. He wanted me to help him. He wanted me to get sleeping pills from work to drug her with. He threatened me and physically and emotionally abused me when I refused. No words I can say can make you understand what he put me through. So stupidly I agreed to do as he said. But something maybe the combination of drugs and the food she ate that night caused her to vomit. I tried so hard to save her. I am so sorry. But no words I can say can bring her back I would gladly give my life for hers. I don't expect you to ever forgive me, for I will never forgive myself.

So right now, Karla's mother is helping her out a lot, with finding a place to live & settle in. While I realize that if Karla had just killed the other two (not her sister), a mother would still be there for her daughter. Which is where I'm having trouble deciding what I would do in this situation if I was Karla's mother. Yes, my daughter would have killed, but she is my daughter. However, she killed my other daughter. I honestly don't know if I would still be there for Karla if I were her mother, or if I would neglect her since she killed my other daughter. Let's hope that I am never in this situation.

However, I'm wondering your opinion...what would you do if you were her mother? Comment here, or email me with your opinion.

Ottawa!

So as many people who are reading this know, I went to Ottawa with a bunch of people this past weekend. Here's the story (sorry so long!):

I left work at 2pm on Thursday, to pick up Lou & Janet in downtown Toronto. Janet got there around 4pm, and Lou got there around 4:30. However, Lou did not get dropped off where she was supposed to, so I had to drive to find her, and driving at that time in downtown Toronto was pure HELL! Never again. Then we try to get to the DVP, but we needed to go down Bloor, but we weren’t allowed to turn onto Bloor anywhere. Grr…downtown Toronto + Jill driving = a very sweary Jill. Finally got on the DVP before 6pm, and it amazingly wasn’t too bad. The 401 wasn’t bad till we hit Pickering. Until Oshawa. It was horrible! Picked up in Oshawa, then we stopped at the service station just passed Oshawa for dinner, which we arrived at around 8pm. Left at 8:30, and traffic wasn’t too bad the rest of the way. After a gas stop in Kingston, we got to Matt’s place around midnight. The other car (carrying Ally, Brandon & Sophie) was already there. We chilled & chatted a bit that night, then went to bed. I was tired, but I never sleep well on a new bed, so I slept like crap that night.

However, when we got there, we got the news that Brandon’s key had broke. Apparently someone put the ignition key into the door (different keys for each), and then someone else twisted it, and it snapped. Oops. But the keysmith came – poor Brandon was up till 2am to get it fixed, but then, all was well.

We were up early the next morning, and Ryda came to Matt’s place to join us for the day. After breakfast, shower & getting ready, we hit the road. Took the bus to the beach where Ally saw some of her friends from high school. Then Jeff joined us. We bussed to the new War Museum, where we spent 3 hours (and too much on a not-so-good lunch) The nice thing about Ottawa is that all the museums & art galleries are free on Canada Day! But the war museum was AWESOME! I’m not much into the history and such…I actually enjoy the changing technology and stuff. But it was cool. 3 hours was not enough, but people were getting bored & wanted to see other things.

We headed to the Rideau Centre – Matt & Sophie took the bus, since Sophie had a rather large blister from her shoes, and it was only about 4pm. The rest of us walked though – we walked along the Ottawa River, and it was a gorgeous walk! We sat in the food court of the Rideau Centre, watched all the people, had some frozen yogurt, and it poured for about 10 minutes while we were there. Then we hit a pub for dinner, which was super-busy, so had horrible service. My wings weren’t too bad, but I paid $7 for a pint of beer before we got our table, and it wasn’t even poured properly! I think the prices were higher, just b/c they knew people would pay on Canada Day.

Afterwards, we headed to Parliament Hill, where we met up with some other friends (Peter, Henry, Kevin & other people) We stayed for some of the concert, where I got some good video footage of Lou dancing :D During Kathleen Edwards, we left the hill to see some of the tourist-y buildings, and find a better place to see fireworks. This is where I got lost, as I thought I was following people who looked like Lou & Brandon, but then they turned around, and they weren’t. Oops. So I looked around, but I figured that someone would find me eventually. Which they did – yay for Janet!

So we went to Major Hill’s Park, where we saw some other people we knew, and watched the fireworks, which were slightly delayed. Now, being from Waterloo which is a smaller city, I thought the fireworks were great – I was in Ottawa last year for Canada Day, and didn’t think they were any worse. Of course, they weren’t as good as the ones I saw in Sydney Australia on New Years, but I still thought they were good. However, Matt, who’s from Ottawa, says that they keep going downhill every year. *shrugs* Oh well :)

After the fireworks, we talked to some people, then we were going to hit a bar or club, but we decided we didn’t want to wait in line for 3 hours. So we went back to Matt’s place, where we hung out & chatted for awhile. Then went to bed. I slept much better that night :D

Saturday, we got up late, and had breakfast & got ready. We met a friend, Denise, for sushi in Kenata. I love sushi – when I tried it last year for the first time, I wasn’t much of a fan, but I’ve had it about 5 times now, and I love it! But it was good to see Denise – she was the one that I worked with last work term at RMC, and she’s a lot of fun! After that, we headed to our friend Peter’s place.

Coming out of the parking lot of the sushi place, we lost the other car somehow, who were following us. I thought they were behind us, but realized they weren’t when we got on the highway. So, we got off, and pulled into a parking lot to call, since I had their cell phone numbers in my phone. However, I discovered that I left my phone at Matt’s place. So we went back to the sushi place to see if they were there, which they weren’t. So we decided to go to Peter’s, since Brandon had Peter’s number, so hopefully he called there for directions. If not, Peter had Brandon’s number, so we could call them when we got there. We got there to the news that their car had broken down. They pulled over to look at a map, and they couldn’t restart the car. It was an old car, and over the years, too much dirt & “foreign objects” got in the ignition, so CAA came and took apart the steering wheel & cleaned it out. But everyone got there eventually, and it was a great time at Peter’s! His parents own several acres of land, and had a pool, and sauna, and volleyball court. Plus there was lots of food & drink! Good times! We crashed there that night. 5 of us crashed in a tent, and went to bed a bit earlier, since we had to get up early the next day to get Lou to the bus station, plus some of us had to drive back. However, they were still partying, so kept me awake for a little while. I slept alright once I fell asleep, but then they woke me up :S

We had some cereal, then went back to Matt’s where Lou packed up and said good-bye, and I went back to sleep for 1.5 hours. Then we packed up, and I drove Janet & Sophie back. We stopped at Tim Horton’s for lunch, and were on the road by 12:30pm. It wasn’t too bad of a ride home – busy after Kingston, but didn’t actually slow down much till Port Hope. Then we were in a lot of traffic, but as soon as the highway turned into 3 lanes, it wasn’t bad at all. I dropped Sophie off in Scarborough, then Janet in Mississauga (after going for gas/Subway for dinner) Got home around 8:20pm.

Twas a very good weekend – too short, but lots of fun! Didn’t matter much that my camera’s broken and in the shop – I’ll get enough pictures off Brandon, Ally, Sophie, Lou & Janet :D Hopefully I’ll get them soon, then I’ll try to post some!

First official post!!

So, I've decided to get me a Blogspot. I'm not new to the blogging thing - I do have a LiveJournal (which I've used for a year) However, I do write a lot of personal stuff in LJ that I'm very particular about who reads it - I only let very very very few people that I know in real life read it. Chances are, they're not my closest friends either. Besides, if you're one of my closest friends, you probably know it all anyway! This blog will likely follow have some of the same posts that I put in LJ, but this one is for anyone to read!

I don't guarantee that I will write every day - there will likely be weeks that I write a lot, and weeks that I don't write at all. But, feel free to comment - I LOVE comments! :D

Well, I'm currently at work on this fine Tuesday morning, so I should do some stuff (and/or surf other websites) But I'll be back :)
