Let's Dance! Put on your red shoes and dance the blues...

First off, this is friggin cool :D

Things are well here - my work reports making progress, I should be able to finish it in rough this week, to send to the people I worked with to look at. I hope.

Last night, my buddy Steve & I went to see Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. It was a fun movie - some parts towards the end seemed a bit slow, but I enjoyed it. Then we went for bubble tea. It was good hanging out with him - I met him during frosh week 3 years ago, at the concert. That was actually the first time I'd met Kat too...they actually went to high school together. Then I re-met him 6 months later at Kat's birthday, then 2 years later at Kat's birthday again. In those 2 years, we talked on MSN occasionally, but not often. Last night was the first time that Kat wasn't there, and I enjoyed the conversation. He's a nice guy - good to talk to, hopefully we'll hang out more often. His girlfriend was going to come, but she's studying for her OAT (optometry admissions test) Oh well - it was a good night!

I've been thinking about my future a lot lately. I still have no idea what I want to do after graduation (which is less than 2 years away!) I've had 4 work terms so far, and while each one has been beneficial, and some have been more fun than others, I haven't had any job that I REALLY loved & thought "this is what I want to do for the rest of my life!" I get bored easily...I need variety. I also want to travel. I also have no idea what I want to specialize in within chemical engineering.

I have 2 work terms left - this coming Jan-April, and then Sept-Dec. However, I only have to do 5 out of 6 work terms. Next summer, I'm in school, but I'll finish by about the 12th of August. Some friends & I have talked about going out west for a few weeks - flying into Calgary, then renting a car & driving through the Rockies & Banff, and ending up in Vancouver. However, I'm thinking a few things. Either I might try to get a co-op job out there & just stay there. Or not work during that work term (since I don't have to) and just staying in Vancouver for awhile. Bum around Vancouver for a few months, or even just one month, then going down towards Seattle & California. We'll see what happens...only time will tell. I just hate that I have no exact dreams or ambitions or any clue as to what I want to do with my life :S

Anyhoo, time for me to make some food...I'm hungry!

Long time no blog...

So a lot has happened since I last talked to you all. Alyssa's wedding was GORGEOUS! Here are a few pictures:

Full post to come sometime...I have it written, along with a few other longer stories, but I'll let you all read this one before I post huge stuff!

Last week was my last week of work, and consequently, my last week in Port Dover. I think I'm going to miss PD - it was a good summer there :) But, I moved home Friday, and had both my siblings & sibling-in-laws here for the weekend. We had a party for Jon & Danya's wedding on Saturday night, since no one here could go to the wedding in Australia back in December. Good times :) And it was good seeing everyone - they all left today, and Jon & Danya leaving was a bit emotional for people, since it'll likely be 2 years before we see them again. Jenn looked well - her pregnancy's gone well so far. She was dancing on Saturday night, and is feeling well. Maybe a bit more tired, but nothing major :)

My roommate (or, former roommate I guess) is now in Europe. Lou's apparently having a blast in Europe (although feverish right now, which sucks). And I asked Jon - he's been to 21 countries in his life! I'm SO JEALOUS!! One day though, one day.

Not much else. This week is a week of rest, organizing, seeing some friends, and work reporting :S I hope to get it done this week though, so I don't have to worry about it during frosh week or during school. No reason it can't be finished. Tomorrow I'm going to take my laptop & stuff to Second Cup to take advantage of their wireless, and get some work done. Wish me luck!

Well, going to hang out & play a game of cards with the parents. Now that I'm off work, I'll try to post a bit more. Cheers!!

Let the good times roll...

Tis Friday! And it's 10:45am, and I'm leaving in an hour & 15 minutes, since Alyssa's rehearsal's at 2pm. Then wedding-ness tomorrow!! Wahoo!! And my brother & sister-in-law get into Waterloo tomorrow (but I won't see'em tomorrow, unless they wait up for me tomorrow night) But it's going to be a crazy-busy super-fun weekend! Wahoo! If I get a chance this weekend, I'll post all the details...but not sure. I'll definitely try to post the details of the past two weekends, since they're typed out, I just can't post long posts at work.

Ontario peaches are the shit :D :D :D

Back to work I go...for an hour! Hee!

Have a good weekend everyone! The few of you that might read this...le sigh.

What the bleep?

5 1/2 days of work & counting (since I'm leaving at noon tomorrow for Alyssa's wedding rehearsal) Then I have a week off, then frosh week, then back to school. Where did the summer go??

Can't really complain though, it's been a good summer :) Highlights included: 2 kickass concerts, Wonderland, camping, friends visiting for May 2-4 and the long weekend in August, Canada Day in Ottawa, FishFest, 2 weddings (well, one happening in 2 days from now), bachelorette parties, numerous weekends in Waterloo, play in Stratford...not to forget the fact that I lived in a cottage in Port Dover near the beach :D Oh, and how could I forget Friday the 13th?? *nod* It's been good. Not quite over yet...still some time. And the hot weather's been nice, especially since Dover's not as muggy. But, I look forward to the return to school - seeing friends again, plus I'm very determined to keep up this term. Hell, with the events of last term, this upcoming school term couldn't be worse (at least, I hope not!)

Travel Talk

My friend Lou is taking off today for Europe. My friend Janet is taking off on Thursday for China. My roommate Lucas is taking off in 12 days for Europe. My brother's been to over 20 countries. *sniff* I wanna travel again!!

I know I shouldn't complain, nor be jealous - it was only 8 short months ago that I spent my second day in fabulous Australia. But I am jealous. There's so much more to the world outside of Southern Ontario. I'm not even one that really cares if I go to a resort in the Carribbean - I want to see Asia! I want to see Africa! I'd like to see more of Australia, or go to Europe, and I think South America would have some pretty cool things to see. But, for cheaper, I'd even go travel to other parts of Canada (I haven't been west yet...although I think we might go for a couple weeks next summer) ... I went east when I was 8, so I'd go there again. Someday, when I graduate & have money (or work overseas), I'll see the world some more! Till then, I'll just dream & read about it :)

GREEEEEEEN DAAAAAAAAY!

WOW! I've seen a lot of bands in concert (see right side of journal) and Green Day has got to be in the top 5! They were bloody awesome!! :D From the pyrotechnics/fireworks at the end to the crowd participation to the kickass encore (consisting of "We Are the Champions" followed by "Time of your Life")...it was definitely one of the best shows I've been to. 35,000 people at Molson Park (er, "Park Place") ... it was CRAZY! So. Much. Fun.

Then we camped the rest of the weekend. When I get to a computer that I can post bigger posts (ie not at work) I'll tell the story of the whole weekend (and maybe the wedding/bachelorette weekend from last week :P)

La weekend...

So I'm going to see Green Day in concert tonight at Molson Park in Barrie, then camping in Alliston the rest of the weekend. For once, I haven't felt overly excited this week - too busy, and too much else going on. Now today, I don't feel overly excited. Why?

It's raining. Raining A LOT! And supposed to rain pretty well all weekend. So it could suck. But as I told my parents in an email this morning, I didn't spend money on a concert ticket to not go. Hopefully it won't be cancelled. And hopefully the rain will clear. And hopefully if it doesn't, I have enough alcohol to be able to tough it out

WAHOO!!

My sister & her husband are expecting their first child at the end of the year. Jenn & Mike decided to find out the gender beforehand, so they had the ultrasound today, and emailed Jon & I to tell us that IT'S A BOY!! :D

To quote her email: "As the doctor said, if they try to give you a girl after the baby isborn, send it back 'cause it ain't yours (to paraphrase)."

YAY!!

Last weekend...

So if anyone wants to read, this is the lowdown on last weekend (long weekend) ... I haven't been able to post b/c of work not letting me post big ones, and the library also now seems to not let me log in to blogger :S

Friday after work I came back & cleaned the bathroom & swept, then Lou took the bus to Brantford for 5:15pm, so I drove the 35-minute drive there to pick her up. The rest of the people (Matt, Janet, Brian & Yuhui) didn’t get in till 11:30ish, since 3 of them came from Ottawa (7 hours away) and they picked up Janet in Mississauga. So Lou & I went grocery shopping & came back to BBQ corn. We also set up tents, and hung out. We knew there was a U2 tribute band at the Brig (which is the bar/stage below the Norfolk Tavern – my bar here!) So we knew they weren’t getting here till midnight-ish, so we decided to go for a bit around 10pm. I messaged Janet around 11pm, to find out where they were, and they were about 25 minutes away. So we stayed for a little while more – we didn’t really want to leave, since we were having fun, but left around 11:28pm, to come back to my place & find people there! I had left the door unlocked (it *is* Port Dover, so I wasn’t worried!) so they let themselves in. We hung out here for a bit – got them set up & such, then Lou & I wanted to go back to the band. The boys didn’t want to go, so Janet, Lou & I headed back. The bouncers at the door recognized us, which was cool – and some other guy welcomed us back. I love small towns! The second set was the more dance-y half, with the faster songs, so we grabbed some drinkies & hit the floor. There was this one bald dude (the one who welcomed us back) who decided to stick around us & dance with us – I think b/c we were having fun, and b/c I knew the words to a lot of songs. The song “Bad” came on, and I knew some of the words (I never know *all* the words to a song), so I started singing, and he turns to me and he says “Hey! Another real U2 fan!” There was this other guy there who was just dancing around randomly, so he was with us when “With or Without You” came on – we all were given Coors Light glow things around our neck, so during that song, since it’s a bit slower, I held it up like a lighter. Then this guy took out his 2 glow sticks & was dancing around with them all night. He was amusing! The singer also seemed to really like our group – he came and sang to us & with us a lot of the time – during a lot of songs, he would hold the mic up to people to sing – so we did that a couple times! And he dedicated their last song to the 3 of us! Overall, the band was really good – they even looked like U2, especially the singer looked like Bono!

After the show, around 2am, we decided to go for a walk along the beach, and went out to the pier/lighthouse. There was obviously no one there, so we were sitting on the edge, singing & dancing. Good times! Went back around 3am – walking down the middle of the road (a busy road during the day, but not so much at 3am) singing! :) Got to bed around 4am.

The next day, painfully got up around 9:30am, b/c the guys were awake – it was pretty hot in the tents too! And noisy – I live with my yard facing a busy road. Made breakfast, and people discovered the pile of games that we have – well, they’re not ours, they belong to the cottage, but we were playing a similar game to Hungry Hungry Hippos – but instead of hippos, it had frogs! Got ready, and around noon, we headed to the beach. 4 hours of sun & swimming & football & Frisbee & eating chips & playing in the sand (Lou made a kickass turtle, as well as a face!) The beach is extra-seaweedy, so Lou decided to make a tiara, and wore it out of the water. Matt was laughing his ass off at this, and apparently, there were these girls who thought she was funny, and wanted a picture with her! B/c of her seaweed crown! LOL The boys left early (silly boys getting burnt) and us girls left shortly after. It was a good afternoon (especially for those of us who didn’t get burnt!) We went back, chilled a bit, then went for dinner at Callahan’s, which is a really nice patio restaurant on the beach.

That night (after a nap!) we headed to the Turkey Point Hotel which is a bar/club/patio about 25km away. I should have talked to my roommate (as I found this out after the fact) but we got there at 11pm-ish (usually never a problem in Waterloo!) but it’s definitely a place that you get to before 10 if you want to get in. We waited around for 2 hours, then finally left (after seeing a fight first – some guy broke a bottle over a bouncer’s head) During the wait, we were talking at one point about music, and the quote of the day (coming from Lou) was “Life is too short for Christina Aguilera!” YES LOU, YES! LOL Came back to my place & set a fire & drank there & roasted marshmallows. To bed at 4am again!

Got up later on Sunday morning (several hours after other people though, as I decided to crash in my own bed…oops for getting up so late!) and we ended up just lounging around my place all day. People were burnt, so they didn’t feel like going to the beach. Played cards & drank all afternoon. Went for dinner, which was very good, then went for a walk to the beach & saw the sun set off the pier. That was gorgeous! I took a bunch of pics, and while the colours look nice there, you can never fully capture a sunset with a camera. Got ice cream, then came back & had another campfire. And roasted marshmallows & corn. Around 1am, decided to go back to the pier – not many people by the lighthouse, so we sat there, and sang, and danced. I think we scared off the people that were on the pier! People who know me know I can’t sing worth shit, and yet I enjoy singing, and I sing too much for their liking (or their hearing!) Anyhoo, that was our night! Not an overly exciting day, but quite relaxing.

Monday morning, people left by 10:30am, since they were meeting other people for lunch in Waterloo, then Matt/Brian/Yuhoi had to get back to Ottawa. Again, I slept later while they packed up, but Yuhoi, being a supernice guy, washed all the plates & cups :D That was so nice of him, b/c I had a lot of other stuff to clean up. Got that all done (except for the rest of the dishes, since I was going to make more during the day, so I just did them later) by 1:30pm, then I read & chilled the rest of the day. Finished Harry Potter - cried after done reading :S Started my other book (Prey, by Michael Crichton), had dinner, watched some tv, talked to the parents, and that was about all I did all day. Laid outside for a bit last night, until I discovered it’s now skunk season – there was one about 10feet from me. They don’t bother me as long as they don’t spray, but I’m a little worried about getting sprayed. I went into the house after I saw that!

All in all, it was a fantastic weekend – good times, good friends :) I think they had a good time…I hope they did.

Bra Auction...

Gosh darnit...if I woulda known, I woulda put a bid in for the Mardi Bra!

Weddings...

So tomorrow, I will attend the first wedding of one of my high school friends. Sharlah's getting married to Nathan at 10am, then there's a lunch afterwards. And in 2 weeks from tomorrow, I'm a bridesmaid for my friend Alyssa, who's marrying Jesse. Don't get me wrong - I'm happy for both of them that they've found their perfect man, and I wish them all the love, luck & happiness in the world.

But, it scares me - we're 22 (well, I'll be 22 soon) I know for myself, I'm not ready to settle down with somebody yet - there's a lot I want to do before that happens! But it just seems like time's flying so quickly, and we're getting old. People my age are getting married, or having kids! I saw another girl who I went to HS with a couple weeks ago, who got married a little while ago & has a 14-month-old son. I couldn't imagine what my life would be like now if I was married with a kid. Oh well - to each their own, as long as they're happy, then I'm happy for them :)

Someone's LJ post: http://www.livejournal.com/users/doubtful_salmon/339364.html

Warning: it gives HP spoilers (so don't read if you haven't read the book!) But I think that some of you (*cough*Lou*cough*) will get a kick out of it :)

Mullet-licious!

Interesting...from an LJ friend. Some people are a little *too* obsessed with mullets >.<
